Tips / Advice

  1. Try to attend a class which specifically caters for beginners as you will be able to learn with a group of people at the same level as you.
  2. Wear comfortable clothing - loose fitting and short sleeves on tops are usually best. Traditional western wear (stetsons and fringing) are very rarely worn now-a-days but you can wear these if you feel comfortable.. Jeans and a top/shirt would be the best option.
  3. Wear comfortable footwear - you will be best to avoid high heels and trainers and should opt for footwear that supports your ankles. Dance sneakers are the popular choice, or comfortable cowboy boots - any low heeled leather soled shoe will do however.
  4. Dont be shy! -  you dont need a partner to line dance, so even if you come on your own you will soon make friends. Dance in the front row on your first night so you can see and hear the instructor - when you then turn around to face a new wall you will still have the rest of the class to follow.
  5. If you want the instructor to go over anything, just ask. The chances are someone else who is also shy was wanting to ask the same thing!
  6. Dont give up - your first week might seem really difficult and you might think you will never get the hang of it - keep going, after a few weeks things will all fall into place - as we like to say "your boots will be programmed"
